History

Carter Lemon Camerons was founded in 1915, under the name of George C. Carter & Co., named after its founder George Copplestone Carter, conducting business in Kingston upon Thames.

In 1959, the firm assumed a London base, moving to 11 Breams Buildings in 1964.

George Carter & Co. became Carter Lemon in 1989, when the Mayfair practice of Lemon & Partners joined the firm. In April 2000, the London partners of Camerons joined Carter Lemon and Carter Lemon Camerons was born.

The firm combines a partner strong commercial property team with a prestigious private client base and a high reputation in commercial litigation – with the skills of one of the leading firms on church and charity law.

The strength of the firm is in its ethos; complete integrity in all its dealings with dedication to best advice. The firm boasts a close and longstanding relationship with clients, enabling its highly experienced lawyers to deal cost-effectively with those clients’ transactions and disputes.

Whilst Carter Lemon Camerons acts for some of the most high profile clients in the property investment sphere, it remains one of the few firms in the City also glad to handle the small private and commercial client business, with a friendly and flourishing private client department and a strong company commercial department.
