CLC attended 5th Arab Lawyers Forum

Carter Lemon Camerons received an invitation to attend 5th Arab Lawyers Forum, which this year took place in London. The aim of this forum was to provide lawyers from a wide range of jurisdictions with an update on the most recent developments in the global legal services industry, concentrating on trends and important issues in the Arab world.

Michael Sookias and Jarmila Entezari started this event with networking, registration and refreshments at Rosewood Hotel. However, the highlight of Day One was the dinner at The Law Society of England and Wales, which was attended by the representatives from Consulates, law firms and other services relating to the legal profession.

Day Two was opened by President of The Law Society of England and Wales, Stephanie Boyce and Mark Stephens CBE (International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute).  The speakers and members of various panels throughout the day included a Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Former Secretary of Arab League , Director of LawtechUK, advocates and members of law firms form United Arab Emirates, Egypt as well as members from J.P Morgan and Deloitte.

Robert Sookias particularly enjoyed the interactive discussion about the challenges, requirements and opportunities within Family Governance and Succession Planning, whilst Jarmila Entezari found it interesting to learn that the contrasting approach of civil law and common law procedures when arbitrating in the MENA region are bridging.

Robert Sookias, Andrew Firman and Hattie Irons represented our firm in the final event which was held at J.P.Morgan offices.

We look forward to the 6th Arab Lawyers Forum which will be held in 2023. In the meantime we look forward to assisting our old and new colleagues from MENA region.
