This visa is for highly skilled migrants with a job offer from a UK employer holding a Tier 2 (General) sponsor licence. Key requirements include:

• The job must typically be NQF Level 6 or above (graduate level), with few exceptions.
• The employer must conduct a labour market test, except in certain circumstances, such as switching from a Tier 4 student visa.
• The minimum salary is £30,000 or the specific minimum for the job (SOC Code), whichever is higher.
• The employer must issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) to the applicant.
• The Tier 2 General visa leads to settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) after five years and subsequently to UK citizenship, but it does not apply to Sportspersons or Ministers of Religion.
