Miles is a partner in Carter lemon Camerons’ Social Housing and Healthcare team specialising in all aspects of property development and non-contentious construction. He has over 10 years experience acting for housing associations, house-builders and other private sector housing concerns and regularly advises on sale and purchase agreements, development agreements, section 106 agreements, joint venture agreements, as well as agreements for lease and commercial leases. He has a wide range of experience in projects delivering new housing stock and extra care schemes in stand- alone developments and as part of larger regeneration projects. Other work routinely undertaken in the course business includes negotiating option agreements, nomination agreements, securitisation work on behalf of housing associations, and an array of infrastructure agreements.
Transactions
- Acting for the trustees of a charitable body’s football club in the freehold transfer of its property to a national house-builder, with the re-provision of a new sports club facility by way of a development agreement and leaseback arrangement.
- Acting for a housing association in its purchase and construction of a 40 bedroom extra care scheme which involved negotiation with the local authority as land owner, an adjoining PFI operator and a PCT. Issues involved construction access, temporary parking and relocating the PCT in temporary accommodation during the building programme.
- Acting for a housing association as part of a Section 106 planning agreement to provide 96 affordable housing apartments as part of the regeneration of a key site within Reading town centre, together with the negotiation of an associated car parking lease for the provision of spaces within a privately operated multi-storey car park.
