City solicitors’ quick success for not-for-profit client

Lawyers from a leading City law firm are celebrating after helping a not-for-profit client to secure the eviction of up to 15 squatters and 3 dogs from commercial premises it owns in just two weeks.

Carter Lemon Camerons LLP acted for the organisation, which may be considering selling the premises in the future. Lawyers from the firm issued urgent Court proceedings, served notice on the squatters, attended a court hearing obtaining an order for immediate possession and arranged for eight Court Enforcement officers, with police on standby, to physically evict them.

This was all completed within just two weeks, minimising disruption, property damage, costs and stress for the client organisation and its members.

Lisa Ginesi, a Partner at Carter Lemon Camerons LLP, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to achieve this success for a client that makes an important social contribution. Squatting can cause major disruption for any organisation, but in the case of a not-for-profit, this can be particularly severe. We are glad to have achieved a successful outcome in this case in such a short period of time.”
