A new route has opened which allows overseas senior or specialist workers to carry out temporary work assignments in the UK. The worker must be assigned to a UK business linked to their overseas employer (aka an ‘intra-company transfer’/’ICT’).
If granted, the visa will be valid for the shortest of the following:
The total leave cannot exceed 5 years in any 6-year period under Global Business Mobility routes. For higher earners, the limit is 9 years in any 10-year period.
Applicants with certain existing permissions (e.g., visitor, short-term student) cannot switch to this route. However, switching to another route may be possible if requirements are met.
Dependents can apply, but this route does not lead to settlement.
